Phase 1: Relief Care

Thumbs Up to Relief

Many people first seek chiropractic care because they are experiencing pain or discomfort. During this initial phase of care, the primary focus is relief—reducing symptoms, improving mobility, and helping you feel better as quickly as possible. Depending on the nature and severity of your condition, this may require more frequent visits at the beginning, such as daily care or two to three visits per week for a period of time.

It’s common to assume that if you are not in pain, nothing is wrong and you must be healthy. However, pain is actually a poor indicator of overall health. Symptoms often appear only after an underlying issue has progressed.

Consider a cavity in a tooth—it typically doesn’t hurt when it first develops, but only once it becomes more advanced. The same is true for many health concerns, including heart disease, diabetes, chronic stress, and spinal problems. Pain is often the last sign that something is wrong.

When chiropractic care begins, pain is usually the first symptom to improve. While this is encouraging, it’s important to understand that relief does not always mean the underlying issue has fully resolved. Continued care allows the body to heal more completely, addressing the root cause rather than just the symptoms.
